This is my absolute favorite picture from my 2 hours at the lemur center. The rest of the group was in a rush to go see the other lemurs but i stuck around at one cage so i could get some pictures. This female Black Lemur came to check me out and pose for the camera. I don't really know what strikes me about this picture...her eyes i guess. All the others' were brown, her's were more yellow than ever. I guess her eyes remind me of Grinning Trickster (the fox) So much life in her eyes. she stared right at me for the longest time..then all the rest of the group came rushing back and scared her off...(insert unkind words here)
[link] thats a list of all the lemurs that they house and take care of. Check it out, its pretty cool. There are some with golden eyes but none named 'bamboo lemur' Does it go by any other name?
I don't mean to be rude or anything, but are you sure this isn't a female Black Lemur? [link] Male Mongoose Lemurs look like this: [link] They do house some Black Lemurs at the center, from what I understand, so it seems possible that perhaps they put the Blacks in with the Mongoose Lemurs, since they behave similarly? Just a guess!
Anyhow, this (and your other Lemur photos) are just beautiful! I'll have to watch you! You say you might try interning out at the DLC? That's so cool! I'm thinking about doing something like that there, when I get older!
It is very possible that they put some Black Lemurs in with the mongoose lemurs. The other pictures i have from that cage are all mongoose lemurs so i just assumed it was some weird variation or something since the tour guide didn't say anything about there being any other lemurs in there with them.
Thank you for the information and i'm glad you enjoyed the picture.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
