In His Eyes - Poem by =lawlez:iconlawlez:

There's a sadness in his eyes,
Played on the strings of life.
Open cage, yet too afraid,
To venture out.

Sit beside a lonely girl,
And look into the eyes of a murderer.
She ground out the love from her heart
So she couldn't feel it ripping apart.

They sit alone, for a while,
Staring at each other.
Finally, she looks away
As someone calls her name.

He watches her leave, hesitantly at first,
As he bows his head then climbs to his perch.
He lets out a scream, which stops the girl.
It sparks the others to scream around her.

She's ushered away, she doesn't have time.
But his eyes... His eyes haunt her at night.
She'll go back one day, to see his sad eyes,
But until then, this will keep him alive.

Based on the lemur from "In Her Eyes". She and I just sat there looking at each other and when others came, she ran up to a higher place and i started walking away. She let out this scream that was so painful to hear, it was so sad and it caused other lemurs to scream too. They told me it was a warning scream, that they do that when they see a predator. That very well may be, but i dunno, just felt odd how she did it when i walked away. Call me crazy.

*Edit* this was written before a correction was made to my description of the photo. A slight mix up on my part concerning the lemur's sex and breed. It seems that the center had put a Black Lemur in with the Mongoose Lemurs and the tour guide didn't say anything of it so I had just assumed that the one I saw was a weird variation of a mongoose. (They also did not have 'black lemurs' listed on their website as lemurs they house)
